Microscope User Group Newsletter - Issue #4
I hope you had a safe and relaxing Christmas and New Year break and hope that you are not too busy trying to clear the log jam of patients hoping to see you in the new year.
This issue of our newsletter gives you a nice overview on the advantages of using the dental operating microscope (DOM) and explores the reasons behind why you may have decided to progress from loupes or even the naked eye to this modality.
Apart from ergonomic and postural issues, there is a lot to be said in understanding the convergence differences between loupes and the microscope and how the eye fuses images together. In this newsletter we have included an article by David J Clark called “Operating Microscopes and Zero Defect Dentistry” in which he talks about the ratio between magnification and actual visual information. You may be surprised what magnification your eyes are really seeing.
Another nice case study included in this newsletter where the DOM was of great advantage is documented by DR ARCHANA KANDHARI and DR PRATIMA SHENOI where a cyst was removed from above the maxillary anterior teeth region and post assessment with the DOM showed complications of the mucosa and middle palatal vault.
I welcome any feedback on what you would like me to present as well as reinforcing that this is an open medium for you to express your thoughts and ideas. Please feel free to contact us any stage or telephone me on the number listed below.
Thank you for your time.
