INLINE Dental News October 2010
Welcome to the October edition of our INLINE newsletter. We would like to take this opportunity to pass our best wishes onto our friends and colleagues in New Zealand who have been affected by the earthquake. We hope that they are able to make the best of a difficult situation. The Kiwi spirit will no doubt hold them in good stead.
This time of year is always busy with several shows such as the ADAVB and the Forensic Conference now behind us, and others rapidly approaching with the Implant Conference coming up in Sydney later this month, the RANZCR Radiology Conference in Perth in October and the Trans-Endodontic Conference in Christchurch in November. In conjunction with these shows, we are excited to announce new product releases including the I-Max 3D from Owandy and the NewTom 5G from QR Systems in Italy. With the addition of these X-ray based products into our range, we have taken the step of appointing a specialist in Cone Beam technology to promote the products and support our customer base into the future. Read more about David George below.
We look forward to catching up with you at one of the coming conferences and thank you once again for your support.

Fly for FREE to Italy: Meet the Inventors of Cone Beam Technology
Order a NewTom VGi from INLINE Medical & Dental
before 31st October 2010 and receive two return flights to Italy to gain expert training from the inventors of CBCT at the NewTom headquarters in Verona, Italy.
This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable product knowledge and experience firsthand why CBCT, or Cone Beam Computed Tomography is one of the most exciting imaging technologies to emerge during the past decade.
NewTom VGi is the latest low dose 3D imaging from the company that developed and pioneered CBCT, enabling all Dental Professionals from Maxillofacial Surgeons to Orthodontists the access to three-dimensional imaging, as a critical diagnostic and treatment planning tool.
Hardware features that make NewTom the global market leader
Smallest Footprint– Other Cone Beam 3D units are unable to fit into the space that the NTVGi can be placed into. NewTom VGi fits into the same space required to house an OPG system.
Flexible Positioning – NTVGI gives more flexibility to patient positioning than any other CBCT systems on the market today.
Designed Around The Panoramic Experience – NTVGi provides patients with a sense of familiarity as it looks like a typical panoramic unit.
- Compartmentalised Electrical Components – By placing the electrical components in a single, readily available control box the NTVGi is more easily serviced and repaired with minimal disruption.
Best Image Quality of all Cone Beam Systems
- Rotating Anode– NT VGi is the only CBCT with a rotating anode, and with this the only manufacturer that relies on the qualities of a CT/Medical grade component.
- Small Focal Spot – As the focal spot decreases in size, resolution and the ability to detect detail are greatly improved.
Unique 360 degree scan– The NewTom VGi is the only CBCT manufactured that takes a complete 360 degree scan (equals 360 images) captured at every degree – many other systems offer only 270 - 300, leading to more scatter and artefacts in the scan.
Safe Beam– Safe Beam is a patented technology which automatically adjusts radiation dose based on the patient’s size and bone density resulting in consistent high quality images whilst removing the guesswork. This ensures maximum patient safety and means that a child may receive up to 40% less radiation than an adult. The NewTom family of products are the only manufacture to have this patented technology.
- ALARA –“As Low As Reasonably Achievable” – NewTom ‘Safe Beam’ technology assists doctors in maintaining this moral requirement for their patients.
Dr. John Taratoris of MDT Dental shares his experience with the NewTom
“When we wanted to upgrade to 3D, we looked at a number of systems on the market and the NewTom had a number of advantages including being supplied by Inline Systems. It is a great system and it wasn’t as if we were dealing with strangers; we knew it would be fully supported.
We do a lot of implants in the practice and having the NewTom means that a quick diagnosis is now available in a matter of minutes, rather than days. We’re doing more and more implants and we already knew the diagnostic power of 3D images, so given that this technology is now far more cost-effective it was a relatively painless decision to purchase a unit of our own.
Seeing cone beam systems being demonstrated is one thing, but having one in your own practice is unbelievable. Before you would piece together information from both objective and subjective sources to diagnose. With the NewTom however, it takes all the guess work away and you can treatment plan with complete confidence.
Patients are very impressed too; in five minutes, you can tell them exactly what they need to know. We charge twice as much for the scan as we did for an OPG but no one even blinks. They just sit down and see the scan on the monitor and go WOW!”
Another real advantage of the NewTom is that it is driven by Dolphin software, which is practically the industry standard for viewing, assessing and manipulating cone beam scans and this comes with comprehensive training.”
With cone beam technology becoming increasingly affordable we encourage you to call us today for more information and a personalised analysis of the benefits that in-house Cone Beam Computed Tomography, CBCT can bring to your practice. INLINE Medical & Dental, call 1300 033 723
