2011 Update

We are now well into the swing of 2011.. with another busy year ahead!

We would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincere condolences to all our friends in Queensland, Victoria and across the Tasman in New Zealand that have been affected by the devastation of recent natural disasters. We wish you all the very best as the enormous clean up continues and will endeavour to offer direct assistance to our customers that have had equipment damaged. INLINE would like to extend our offer of assistance to any dentists experiencing equipment outages due to the severe weather conditions.

We look forward to working with you throughout the year and hope to see you at The Australian Dental Congress in Brisbane at the end of the month.

Latest Weapon Against Infection Control Sparks Global Interest

Cleankeys is revolutionising the way medical professionals work. The one-wipe-clean wireless keyboard is quickly becoming the new global standard in keyboard infection control. Since launching its latest model in February 2010, sales have increased over 300%, with online traffic expanding over 1,000%.

Of all common surfaces, keyboards are one of the most germ-infested – filthier even than public toilet seats according to many studies. In hospitals, keyboards are known to spread infection more than any other surface.

Since Cleankeys' launhced at IDS in 2009 it has received rave reviews from global infection control experts. Cleankeys has a typing surface that is completely flat so that it can be cleaned more quickly and effectively than other keyboards on the market. It is an ideal keyboard to use in environments where a computer's keyboard can become easily contaminated, especially dental. With Cleankeys, all you have to do is spray & wipe and your keyboard and mouse will be ready to go in seconds. Cleankeys' ticks all the boxes for infection control. It comes with a built in mouse and nothing can get trapped in the keyboard making it the perfect solution for all clinicians.

Clinical trials prove that a single wipe with a disinfecting cloth on Cleankeys’ smooth surface kills 99% of all bacteria. The same test on standard plastic and rubber keyboards eliminates less than 5%.

“Viruses like H1N1 and other infectious diseases are spread most commonly through people’s hands and shared computer keyboards – but Cleankeys helps stop that spread,” says Randy Marsden, CEO of Cleankeys Inc. “Most keyboards aren’t used by just one person. Think clinics, schools, food services – any place people share computers. You can share this keyboard without sharing your germs.”

Features Summary:

  • Wipeable
  • Waterproof
  • Wireless
  • Touch tap technology
  • Integrated track pad & number pad

Cleankeys Inc. has been a world-leading designer and manufacturer of groundbreaking computer input solutions for over 20 years. The company has won an Ingenuity CME Award, an Alberta Science and Technology Award for technological innovation and the American Dental Association Award for Best New Product. Cleankeys was also recently commended by the British Safety Industry Federation and the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters. Cleankeys is distributed in Australia & New Zealand through INLINE Medical & Dental.

Another Global Success Story: Using a Dental Microscope to Improve Patient Care

With the growing acceptance of operating microscopes in general dentistry, it has become apparent that dental professionals are now recognising the benefits of magnification and additional light along with the added advantage of the improved working posture a microscope can provide. The old saying, 'you can only treat what you can see' has never been more relevant with GLOBAL customers confirming on a regular basis that they are practicing better dentistry and they have more confidence in their work since installing an operating microscope.

Sydney dentists Dr Jim Giannisis and Dr Mahes Wanigesekera recently installed a GLOBAL microscope into one of their four rooms at Rockdale. Initially it was believed they could share the unit but like many other microscope users they soon realised that once dentistry is enhanced with a microscope you will never look back and consequently installed a second GLOBAL microscope promptly!

"With our interest in endodontics, Dr Mahes Wanigesekera and I decided to install an operating microscope into one of our operatories. The thinking was, that we could share the unit....

Apart from magnification beginning from low range and the easy manoeuvring, we chose a GLOBAL microscope because of the great service and after sale care Mike and the INLINE Dental team provided other Sydney dentists. Of course, it didn't take long to realize that once dentistry is enhanced with microscopy, you cannot turn back!

We quickly invested in a second G6 GLOBAL microscope to continue providing high quality, rewarding treatment while ergonomics and posture is optimal. We knew what we were doing, but now we can see exactly what we are doing. The image and lighting is absolutely amazing!!!"

GLOBAL's G6 dental microscope has six levels of magnification ranging from 2x to 19.2x making it the perfect scope for restorative dentistry at low magnification and for endodontics at the other end of the scale. GLOBAL's entire optical path was developed using the latest computer aided design technology and is equipped with first-class optical components. This ensures superior contrast, resolution, and depth of focus throughout the full range of magnification, whilst the ultra wide (54mm) objective lens and 16.8mm aperture at all magnification steps mean more light for the user.

GLOBAL microscopes are equipped with a superior illumination module giving the product a real advantage in comparison with other systems on the market as illumination is a vital component when working with magnification. The ultra wide (54mm) objective lens and 16.8mm aperture at all magnification steps means more light for the user. Additionally, the new LED light source is brighter and whiter delivering more light evenly over the entire field of view. This fantastic addition to the GLOBAL range is low maintenance, low cost, and long lasting. It is quiet (no fan), small and connects directly to the microscope body and comes with a three year warranty. Additionally there is a dual light source option available allowing a Xenon light source to be fitted if desired.

GLOBAL's system is modular and can be upgraded at anytime which is critical with rapid technology advances. Various types of digital recording devices, such as an SLR and/or video camera can be fitted to the scope and updated as required ensuring that you can keep up to date with the latest imaging technology developments. With the optional addition of a beam-splitting device, video and still image can be captured simultaneously providing an excellent communication and education tool.

With sales of Microscopes increasing steadily, it has become clear that there is a need for additional magnification in general dentistry and this can only lead to improved treatment results for patients along with improved posture for the dentists. Why not treat yourself to a Global operating Microscope today.

34th Australian Dental Congress: Brisbane 2011

For those of you who have not already registered to attend the 34th Australian Dental Congress in Brisbane on behalf of the ADA we invite you participate in this exciting event. The theme of the Congress, “Back to the Future: Now and Tomorrow”, will appeal to all in the dental profession as it will relate to day to day practise and it will be held in the magnificent Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. The congress runs from 30th March to the 3rd of April, 2011.

Over 20 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours, are achievable by attending the Congress’ Scientific Programme, making Congress a primary CPD event for dentists in Australia. 60 CPD hours per cycle are needed for national registration with the Dental Board of Australia, so attendance at Congress is a great way of building on this requirement.

The scientific sessions will draw on a diverse range of presenters who will expand on the main themes of the congress with specialist and general practitioner perspectives adding to the keynote speakers, who are experts in prosthodontics, endodontics and dental erosion. Running alongside the scientific program the Australian Dental Association will host a trade exhibition which despite the recent floods promises to be one of the biggest and best Brisbane has seen.

INLINE will be displaying our full range of products at BOOTH 421 which can be found on the right hand side of the exhibition hall towards the back near the internet area. We are very excited o be participating in this event as there has not been a dental congress hosted in Brisbane during the past 10 years. During this time our range and expertise has grown dramatically and we are keen to show it off to the profession. In addition to this we look forward to catching many of you at the social events running alongside the congress.

New High Frequency Xray From Owandy

In response to practitioners and installers' expectations, Owandy has developed an HF generator manufactured in their new Swiss plant, that guarantees technological precision down to the finest detail.

The Owandy-RX intraoral x-ray system is equipped with high frequency technology offering consistent exposure parameters and high quality x-ray emissions. Ergonomically designed with the entire dental care team in mind, this x-ray unit is extremely user-friendly, flexible and robust. The controls are simplified as all the parameters are set using 3 very intuitive buttons. The first defines the tooth type to be selected, the second calibrates the x-ray dose in accordance with the build of the patient and the third allows you to select the type of receiver used (film or digital). The exposure times are accurate to one hundredth of a second and optimum control is guaranteed by the use of a microprocessor in the timer.

The high frequency technology ensures the safety of your patients and allows a significant reduction in the x-ray doses through the elimination of the harmful soft x-rays. Irrespective of the layout of your office, the x-ray unit is simple to install and the three lengths of the extension arm (short, standard and long) offer maximum adaptability to your work area. The system is also mounted on a solid structure for stability ensuring no unwanted movement or vibrations.

Furthermore, as the RX system is manufactured in Owandy’s own plant in Switzerland, a country highly recognised for its savoir-faire in precision equipment and micromechanical manufacture, you can rest assured that the high quality and robustness of this x-ray system is guaranteed.

Sydney Dentist, Sabine Barford recently installed an Owandy RX into her newport practice and is very happy with her purchase decision. "The image quality of the Owandy-RX is superb. If I compare the quality of the X-rays to my previous machine, it is definitely far superior. The adjustment of the exposure time is no problem, the pictures on the control panel are easy to understand and the new machine integrated seamlessly into my surgery routine."
