INLINE Dental News July 2010
Considering an OPG
There is no doubt that in house OPG’s provide a number of benefits to the general dentist including convenience, improved productivity, lower radiation, and a great deal more diagnostic information over and above a PA or bitewing. Until recently many dentists have found the cost of installing an OPG into their practice prohibitive.
Today OPG’s cost a lot less than people think, with lease repayments fairly low, you do not need to take a huge number of OPG’s each week to cover the costs and make some return on your investment. There are no ongoing costs with films or chemicals and digital imaging provides clarity beyond comparison to conventional film.
Installing an OPG into your practice will result in improved communication as an image can de displayed on the screen immediately and the treatment plan presented and discussed without the need for subsequent appointments.
Sydney dentist Dr Gus Jones recently installed an Imax Touch into his Narrabeen surgery and believes "The response from patients is amazing as they love receiving an immediate diagnosis, every dentist really should have one. It's just so convenient having it in the practice and it's a real time saver. With the OPG in house I can complete more work in one appointment. It is a better outcome for the patient and much more efficient for the practice."
INLINE’s Imax Touch OPG is easy to use and you have the results instantaneously. The unit has an integrated LCD touch display, 12 examination programs, can be used with a USB or connected to the network and has a CEPH attachment available.
Combine the Imax Touch with Owandy’s new Visteo sensor and use the same image management software to handle both panoramic and intra oral images. The new Visteo sensor is high resolution, with an interchangeable sensor, integrated positioning and provides optimum patient comfort.

Nomad benefits the undeserved in humanitarian work around the world
Because of its light weight and cordless portability, the NOMAD Handheld X-ray System can go where conventional x-rays could never be used. The NOMAD has helped doctors diagnose patients in humanitarian and access-to-care work across the globe and in all situations where it is not possible to get the patient to the x-ray.
The NOMAD Handheld X-ray System was recently used in volunteer work in Panama, proving instrumental in broadening the services provided to impoverished indigenous communities.
Mission Save a Smile journeyed by dugout canoes into the rainforests in Panama to extend the reach of dentistry to those lacking access to a traditional dental clinic. Utilising the NOMAD coupled with digital sensors and a laptop, full service dentistry is possible in communities without electricity or running water. Working 10-12 hour days, restorations, extractions and root canal work all started with diagnostic imagery made possible by the NOMAD.
In addition to this the Nomad has been used extensively in Australia by country dentists who do a lot of procedures under general anesthetic. These patients are rarely referred to specialists for treatment and it gives general dentists access to take x-rays outside their own rooms that would not otherwise be available outside city areas.
The portable flight case from INLINE enables you to carry all the required dental imaging and diagnostic equipment for any examination in a single transport case. Whether it is being used for humanitarian work, or being transported within a clinic or hospital the flight case ensures everything is transported easily and charged when you need it.
All the equipment is battery powered and can also be used with mains power from a central charging circuit with a single power connect. The combination of technologies in the transport case makes work that was not possible before more accessible.
The kit comes with the following items;
- Transport Case with Custom Foam Insert
- NOMAD Portable Xray Unit
- Two NiCad Batteries
- Mains charger unit for batteries
